Very large particles can also be analyzed and pictured now by flow cytometry

Toward a new insight in the functioning of the microbial food web ?

Thanks to the new Cytosense, we were able to capture pictures and optical signals (fluorescences and light scatter pulse shapes) of particles up to about 1 mm in size. This movie shows a sample of some large cells analyzed and captured by the image-in-flow device of the last generation of Cytosense (Cytobuoy). The sample comes from a plankton net (200 microns).
